What's the big deal about the ATI vs the NVidia in the 8600? Is there something you can't do with the fx 5650 that you can with the m10?
BTW, on the forum that you listed in your URL, all of the discussion is about WHETHER this item is available. Everybody wants to know whether it is real. (helps to read French :)
For all those interested in getting a Radeon 9600 in the 8600 (as I am).
I have looked into it in some detail, and I do NOT believe that the page on the French website is correct -- I believe it is a copy error.
On one page, you have choices to look at the 1.4Ghz Pentium M model 8600, the 1.5GHz model, the 1.7GHz model, etc. If you look everything except the 1.5GHz model, they all show the NVidia chip. If you look at the 1.5GHz model, it shows the Radeon video card, but then if you click on "Details" it again shows the NVidia chip. If you notice, that line on the front page is part of the hardcoded HTML -- perhaps at one time they were considering to offer it, or perhaps they are going to in the future. But I do not believe that it is currently being offered with the Radeon even in France.
This would be a rather elaborate rues not to mention with the amount of traffic those pages are getting I'm pretty sure they have been verified... If it is fake someone has done a very good job!

... and it looks like they all do all but 2 (see poll, helps if you read graph) as for the second post havn't translated the frog in that one though... care to.
right, well done for that link i'm gonna order one :)
france is only just over the channel and i have a friend fom there .. although gcse french at school serves me well enough to read RADEON 9600.. yes.. RADEON 9600 on the order page...
Well, I did not say that it was a ruse, I said that it was probably a mistake. The Spanish version is almost a carbon copy of the French version with the language translated, so it would not be surprising to me to see the mistake duplicated.
You may be right -- but I won't be convinced until I have heard of someone buying this version of machine.
Don't you find it odd that if you go to that site, you cannot configure a machine with the Radeon?
