It looks like your battery is probably about dead. Mine went belly up this week, pretty much the same way. When I plug the laptop into AC power now, the indicator light on the laptop blinks fast yellow (or orange). Even though BIOS says the battery is 95% charged, if I pull the AC plug from the laptop, it dies immediately.
I just purchased a new battery from Dell this week. Unfortunately, they do not warrant the battery for more than one year, even if you have an extended warranty.
It turns out that my issue was definitely with the battery. I got my replacement battery in today and it has already charged up to 100% today. I am glad that it was not anything with the charging components on the motherboard.
I am not sure how much the battery is for the 8100. It cost me $150 to replace the battery in my 8500. It hurts being so close to Christmas, but it has to be done, I guess.
