Hi, yes, you can use the QFXGo1000 in your 8600.
You do NOT need to use an M60 BIOS.
Uninstall the ATI software + drivers, shut down the system, swap cards, then power up & finally install the Dell-Quadro FXGo1000 drivers.
Depending on what you use your QFXGo1000 for, I'll point you to the best versions of the Dell drivers.
Keep us posted.

Thanks for the reply.  My primary application is SolidWorks 2005 (3D CAD.)  I can't wait to install this upgrade...  I've seen SolidWorks run on a desktop system with the Quadro FX1000 graphics card and it's sooooooo sweet...

(EDIT)  Any heat issues as with the ATI Mobility Radeon 9600 cards?

Can someone clearly state whether they have successfully installed the M60s quadro card into an i8600?  I'm using solidworks 2003 on the 8600 and it works for the most part, so far.  Some edges and hidden lines disappear and the omega drivers don't seem to help.  I fear that as I begin to make more detailed assemblies, the problems will get works

I have not tried to change the configurations in the Nvidia control panel since the omega install so if anyone has hints for that, please let me know.

Yes, the Quadro700 & Quadro1000 fit & work in an 8600.

Assuming you have the Go5650 in your 8600 right now, this driver will work better than the Omega drivers for you -

Works like a charm.  I'm using this combination right now and SolidWorks 2005 is running fine with RealView graphics enabled.  I just took a stock I8600, added RAM and replaced the ATI Mobility Radeon 9000 32MB graphics card that came with it with the nVidia Quadro FX Go 1000 and installed the Dell Precision Workstation M60 video driver.  I am still running the I8600 A11 BIOS and everything is working A-OK.

toyfreak  - which driver do you prefer on the Inspiron + Quadro1000 combination - Dell 53.82 or Dell 67.42?

You like the 61.76 drivers, huh? Interesting...Solidworks work MUCH better on my Quadro FXGo1000 with the A05 (R88801) 67.42 drivers.

Thank you for all of the information.  I am using the Invidia go5200 card.  Should I have 'software open GL' checked?

Any other hints for drivers, etc?
