Oh usually when I turn it back on the next day, the monitor would turn on. But then about 20 seconds the display would go blank again, and stay blank till the next day. (like a repeated cycle)
You may wish to reseat the video card. Under the kbd, push down at the front of the top card. The suspend switch may be a reed switch, a glass tube about 10mm long, you can test it by putting a multimeter accross it on th volts range. If it is working, you should have a few volts accross it, and then no volts opening and closing the cover. If in doubt, dont. It is the most likely cause given it works with an ext. mon. If you get a quick flash of the Lcd it should be OK. A shorted invertor can cause similar problems, so if you take the Lcd off, it should stay booted with no ext. mon.

Hi,
You may have a bad suspend switch. If so, it thinks the lid is shut, so turns off. The switch is on the IR board, Lhs at the back.
