There is no problem with USB 2.0 through the Port Replicator, once you have updated to the latest Notebook System Software. This is caused by a problem with the Palm Tungsten, which is not fully compliant with USB 2.0. The Port Replicator is less tolerant of this type of problem than the system. Dell cannot fix this Palm problem. Please contact Palm for the solution.
If anyone is having a similar problem with any other devices, please start a new thread, and post the details about your system, and the device that works when attached to the system, and does not work when attached to the Port Replicator. I will be happy to revisit this problem, if the problems are not with Palm devices. Dell cannot fix a problem with Palm devices, Palm will have to do that.
Hi, I had a same problem with my D600 w/APR , however I read here somewhere that if you buy and connect an external HUB to any of the APR's USB port you will be able to sync your T3. ...it is strange , but works.... Personaly I purchased a Belkin F5U234 usb 2.0 4 port Hub, and works perfectly. And also gives you additional 3 more USB 2.0. So, I just recommend to do the same.
Dells solution of the USB2.0 problem (installing the right NSS-Version) doesn't work for any USB1.1 devices and Dell knows this!
There are still existing problems with the faulty APR and Dell ignores that!
Your tungsten isn't on the HCL (hardware compatibility list). Therefore, its not an approved device. Therefore when you connect it to an approved device, like the dell and dockstation, at that point the connectivity from the Tungsten is a guessing game, at best. Its not a faulty APR, there are known issues with External devices, namely PDA's.. none of which are approved by Microsoft to be guaranteed to work with their OS. Its simply a matter of trial and error. Tungsten has to fix the issue, not Dell not Microsoft. Just because a thousand people use a Tungsten connected via USB to Windows XP without a problem, just means they were very fortunate. Tungsten didn't test their PDA with YOUR specific configuration, did they? Now that you have problems, you can report it to Tungsten.. and THEY should fix it.
Why don't you do a forum search and see how many users are having this problem before you claim it isn't Dell's problem? There are scanner problems, digital camera problems, Wacom tablet problems, all related to USB via the D/Port. Actually support your customers rather than claim someone else isn't being compatible. I'm an engineer, and that is the LAMEST EXCUSE in the book. I hear it all the time. It couldn't be my problem. My stuff isn't designed that way.
Well maybe it isn't working the way you think it was designed! That's why they are called DEFECTS. Because you didn't expect it to happen. Don't believe the engineers that tell you "that can't happen", when you are seeing it happen with your own eyes.
At least be proactive and talk to Palm about the problem. Don't just leave us hanging with non-support.
By the way, disabling the USB 2.0 just stops all USB on my 600M. It doesn't revert to USB 1.1. It just stops.

All set for now. It seems I had to disable the USB 2.0 enhanced host controller in Device Manager and now it works.
Thanks!
