dbunker9898,

Many thanks to Dell-ChrisM for the kind reply.

I THINK running system restore has gotten rid of the Naupoint hijacker (at least for now), but I've bookmarked your reply just in case. In addition, I went to the security tab of the control panel and entered     *.naupoint.com    as a restricted site. Hopefully, if somebody accidentally clicks on something they shouldn't, hopefully having naupoint as a restricted site will block any attempts to hijack my PC.

Again, thanks for the help!!    DB

Re-infected with naupoint!!

Apparantly, this despicable hijacker has embedded something onto my PC, because I'm infected again--just two days after getting rid of it (or so I thought). This is with both SpywareGuard and SpywareBlaster running.  The homepage I keep getting hijacked to is http://find.naupoint.com/. This appears to be the version without the attached toolbar. Is there any way to complain to the ISP that hosts these creeps?
I've scanned my PC with HJT; here's the log (ChrisM, I hope you're out there)--

Many thanks--DB

I had the same issue. Go to http://www.hijackthis.de/index.php?langselect=english. You can copy your log file into a tool which tells which lines to fix.

good luck

My computer has been infected as well.  Ad-Aware SE and GIANT AntiSpyware both detected Naupoint and removed it. Unfortunately, after this Naupoint is still active on my PC. A minimized popup screen with links to Games, Cars, Loans, etc. etc. keeps appearing, but less often.

   wyatt72,

I used that too when I first started out, but keep in mind that it's not 100% accurate. It has both false positives and false negatives, and  omits some entry(s) in the final analysis.  So be careful what you remove.

It's a good tool, buy don't let it override personal judgement and a little research.

dbunker9898,

Here are the entry(s) that we need to fix...

Run HiJackThis, click "Scan", then check(tick) the following entry(s):

Thanks for your offer, but I think/hope that I fixed it myself with HiJackThis and and a tool which analyzed my log somewhere on the internet. If Naupoint still keeps coming back, I will post my latest log.

When someone with the expertise that Mike possesses offers to help you I would jump on it.
He knows his shiat and if anyone can clean you system up Mike is the guy.
Don't think you can play with this program with little knowledge and their database help to fix things. This is very tricky and you really do need someone like Mike to give you directions as to not screw up your system.
Just my opinion based on personal experience.
