dust is a *major* factor and i think its the problem nobody is realising with this card.. the system is obviously working harder and theyre not cleaning the air intake and heat sync up.

blow through the rear of the fan with compressed air (or your own) weekly to ensure it remains at low temperature! pretty sure youll be sorted then :)

still waiting to hear from a company in the uk on whether they can obtain the card, they have it on their stocklist so chances are :D

Ive never had a heat prob but then i have a fan to the left of my lappy that i have blowing cool air across it while im playing a game or if i plan to spend a few hours on it,I reckon there is still gunk in there so i will give it a blow every couple of weeks.

If crucial is too expensive bro, what about kingston? Ive heard they r ok.

Ok. Ive got my ATI radeon 9000 installed in my Inspiron 5100. Heres my problem: The TV out functionality has become very, very screwey. 99% of the time, it says that my TV isnt connected. 1% of the time, it recognizes it, and will send video to my TV. If I try to use the "Force recognition of my TV" option under troubleshooting in the displays subpanel, it doesnt send video to my TV. Ive tried changing drivers, cables, everything, and I have no idea why it wont detect my TV. Anyone else had this problem, or know what I might try to get it fixed?

Well, I figured it out, sort of ....

I had been using an S-Video to RCA conversion cable. Worked magnificiently with my 7500. With the 9000 though, it exibits the above scenario. The converter works fine, I tested it on my DVD player, and it performed flawlessly. However, the 9000 doesnt like it. I went out and bought a 12ft S-Video cable, and straight to my TV's SVideo in, it works. My theory is maybe the video converter is grounding the signal just enough for the radeon to not detect it. But, Im a software engineer (in training), not a computer engineer =)

on another note, when i put the 9000 in it worked really well with some games but when i tried to play BF vietnam it was really jolty.. oddness, was fine when i put the 7500 in.

tried the omega, dell and default drivers to no avail

is the 9000 properly seated ?? Did u try pluging in the 7500 and checking if it still works ??

It could proally be a bad card that they sent u .... pity u cant test it out anywhere else..

Musik...u'd need to reduce the video quality settings in BF'42. This is a M9000 that we're talking about not a 9800XT.....most proally BF is trying to run the DX8.1 features on High in the Game....mebbe lower the resolution or trun down the eye-candy ..

Deus EX 2 would run real shi tty even at 800X600 ... had to get it down to 640X480 to play with all the eye candy on.
