Losing Network Connectivity when Undocking D600 from D/Port

Question

Hello: I have the D/Port Port Replicator and Dell Lat D600 (with W2K). When I undock the system and plug in a network cable into the LAN port, the network connections are not re-established. I have already tried to go to the Command Prompt and run 'ipconfig /renew'. This just hangs and doesn't give me a new IP address. The only way I can get network connectivity is to reboot! This is not the optimum solution because I will be running from meeting to meeting with my laptop (and need to hook up to the network in various rooms) and be returning to my desk (where I will be docking in again). I'm having the same problem. Win2K, using D/Port.

Neither the wireless or the built-in network connections work. They both do not respond to a "ipconfig /renew" and just return 0.0.0.0.

Has anyone found a solution? Having to reboot to get connectivity is such a pain when I just want to take the laptop to a meeting.

The fix for this is to upgrade to Win XP. Tried a bunch of other things with Win 2K, but didn't work.

Even with Win XP, the laptop insists on going to standby mode. I can live with that, but it would be nice not to do that.

My 3 year old Tecra handles hot dock/undock very gracefully
