it could be that your BIOS has a setting for USB EMULATION.  try to set it to NOBOOT or NONE.

We both have Dell 2005FPW monitors. The monitors require a USB to be plugged into the monitor, then into your computer. So I plugged the USB into 1 of the 4 slots of the onboard USB's. When it is plugged in, she hangs.

The monitor only "requires" this if you intend to use the USB ports built into the monitor.  Some USB ports don't support a USB Hub, which is what's on the 2005FPW.  Some USB ports are also just goofy... I had a MS Intellimouse Explorer wireless USB plugged into one of my PC's (Asus P4T533-C motherboard) and the PC would not boot if it was in either of the top two USB ports.. moving it to a different port solved the problem.

I suggest you try a different USB port, or just don't use the hub on your monitor if your motherboard has a bug.  You might also want to try updating your motherboard BIOS if you haven't already.
