Help! Monitor stuck in Safe Mode

Question

Hi all. Funny thing happened i was trying to run Intel Desktop Utilities v2.0.11.46  for the first time and all of a sudden the monitor went black and the computer was still on. I tried re-booting but nothing... i tried connecting with VGA also but when i press the status button on my 2005FPW it says monitor running in safe mode press any key or move the mouse to get out of safe mode. I do this and nothing happens...  Anybody have a clue as to what happened?    XPS Gen3 3.4 HT 1GB DDR SDRAM X800 XT PCI-Express 160 GB ATA

I own the same monitor and it was running fine until I got the same  problem. I found that the reslution was conflicting with my graphics card .  I finally got it to boot in safe mode so I could adjust the proper res setting for the monitor and the graphics card. I run a 6800gt and there is a setting for  1680 x 1050. Also I kept the refresh to 60hz.      Hope this helps.
