Are you sure there was no supplementary software that came with the speakers?

No, just plugged them in and they worked.  A day later, I noticed the icon in the System Tray for what turned out to be an equalizer with a corresponding icon in the Control Panel - that was clickable at that time.  Would this be part of the Audio Driver and I just never noticed it before?  Should I reinstall the Audio Driver?  Thanks in advance for info.

Yes, reinstall the audio driver.

Have upgraded audio driver to what Dell has on downloads page.  This has made no difference.  Funny thing is when PC  is rebooted, little tiny icon flashes in system tray and then disappears.  Icon in control panel is still not clickable.  I am finding NO info on the web for CMI Audio Config.
