One of two things come to mind.  It may be that the LCD cable has come loose because of the fall - easy fix.  Or something has happened to the LCD assembly which means it will have to be replaced.

In that document, they call it the display-feed flex cable.
 
Is the computer under warranty?  Do you  have Complete Care?  If you do, you should be able to get Dell to fix it.

Thanks for the advice. I will either call Dell to see what they cover or try to check the connection of the cable myself. I hope that will do the trick.
