I don't recall that being on the utilities CD.  What does it do and where can I find it?

Did you install the Dell Access Direct software after reinstalling Windows?

It enables the extra buttons on the keyboard.  Check all of the CDs that came with your system, it should be on one of them.  It varies from model to model and I don't have the same model as you.

You can also download it from the download sections for the I8500.

Since you didn't install the QuickSet drivers, I might assume that you didn't install the Intel Mobil Chipset and Dell Notebook System Software.  These need to be installed first.  Then install the other drivers.  You can get them all form the link that I provided.

Bay Wolf,

I had previously installed the Quickset drivers, as well as the chip set drivers and the dell laptop system drivers.  As far as the order of installation, I installed the chip set drivers first, then the video, then the audio.  I installed the quickset and laptop system drivers later.  Could the order of installation have been a problem?  If so, what to do?  Uninstall and start over?  Thanks for the help.

Hello asics,

Your suspend switch can cause your Volume and Mute buttons not to respond, also can cause the LCD to turn off once the Video driver is installed. Please try the  troubleshooting steps I provided on your previous post.

Mike,

I'll try it tonight.  Keeping my fingers crossed it works on both the mute/volume buttons AND the video.  Thanks, again.
