A/C Adaptor for Inspiron Port Replicator

Question

My A/C adaptor, P/N 1243C model PA-4 died recently.  I wanted to take a spare PA-6 adaptor and cexchange the plugs.  Is the wireing compatible?  Are there any 'Gotcha's' I need to know before I do this?  Any advice would be appreciated.

Don't know if that would be a good idea. If the PA-4 has a different plug than the PA-6 the PA-6 might not be compatible with that APR and could damage it.

That was my concern exactly, but if it worked it saves a bunch of money!  Hopefully someone out here will know the answer.

I haven't found one that cheap, most are at $80 or so.  Where can I get one for $35?
