• I updated to BIOS version 1.15.0 by downloading the support BIOS update directly from the official Dell website, but the issue persists.
• I am using the original charger, and the laptop is always connected to a power source with proper ventilation during use.

Troubleshooting Steps I've Tried:

• Verified that all drivers and firmware are up-to-date using Dell Support and Windows Update.
• Reinstall Windows
• Adjusted power profiles in both Windows and the Alienware Command Center.
• Checked thermal performance, and the CPU temperatures are within acceptable ranges before throttling occurs.
• Monitored the issue using Task Manager and HWInfo64, confirming the drop in CPU wattage and clock speed.
• Replicated the issue across various games and different performance profiles with consistent results.

Steps to Replicate the Issue:

1. Launch a game (e.g., Apex Legends or another performance-intensive application).
2. Play for 15 minutes or run a stress test to load the system CPU and GPU combined 
3. Observe the CPU wattage and clock speed drop in real time as the STAPM limit reached 100% and never drops even if the cpu temperature lowers to 70-80C

I have the same problem with my device. I have 1.15 bios right now and the thread about 1.14 which we opened it when 1.14 released is deleted. I wasnt expecting this from a company like dell. For sure something shady is going on.

Something i think when i face stapm problem is as if dell didnt do anything to set it up and left stapm and system temperature tracking configuration default which ruins this model.

Today i realized something that if i put my handmade diy cooler underneath the m16 r1 amd model that i have stapm problem disappears to some extent. While cpu power isnt dropping to 32 watts when long game sessions there are some small stuttery moments where cpu drops to 32 watts for like 3-4 seconds and return back to 60-70 watts range. Maybe my device is problematic idk. You may take a look at buying a cooler. Even a cheap one should help.

BTW Stapm was disabled on my system. Because my mainboard is going to be replaced i decided to do a cmos reset on bios 1.15 and test if system is usable when STAPM is enabled. No not possible constant stutters throttles cpu frequency dropping 500mhz. Things like that constantly when STAPM is default mode. Good thing is when STAPM is disabled all of the problems goes away, system runs like clockwork. If youre having unavoidable problems get your motherboard replaced by one with <1.15. And disable STAPM. I dont think dell would do anything to fix that. Only thing they care is preventing their customers from using their hardware freely. You dont buy a hardware from dell, you just rent it.

I am also facing this issue as outlined above, Dell please give us a way to tune our device that we paid a lot of money for.

this model has a unlocked and overclockable processor yet we are given ZERO options to do so, Asus and Lenovo laptops with the same processor allow users to access this bios settings. 

this is simply unacceptable and given the complete denial and ignoring of this issue I will no longer purchase or recommend purchasing any Dell or Alienware laptops in the future. 

@Steven An​ Its caused by bad stapm implementation. Most likely from overconfiguration of variables by dell bios engineers which are known for ruining gaming laptops for decades. When stapm is disabled this laptop is a awesomne device.
