LED screen

Question

So my XPS 1530 laptop arrived yesterday and I was installing neccessary drivers to get it going. I ordered a LED screen and how can you tell if you have an LED vs LCD? I was  told one way to tell is when you boot the machine up look at the bottom of the screen and if you see lights coming from it (bleeding lights) you have a LCD? is this true? because I see that when I boot my system up. Thanks
