How to tell if memory module is ECC or Non-ECC?

Hi there, Aside from actually opening up the laptop to check for what type of memory module it is, how can i go about in finding out if my memory module is ECC or non-ECC? Thanks for any advice. Calla

google a program called 'CPU-Z' download it and run it click on memory tab it will tell you what kind of ram you have

Most Dells are non-ECC but another method is to go to www.crucial.com and run the Scan My System tab.  You will receive the info and recommendations about memory upgrades for your particular model.
