Dell Dimension & Geforce 6800 are incompatable (Stutter issue)
Please be advised that that Dell Dimension 8400 with Nvidia Geforce 6800 gpu's are not compatable.
Though Dell lists this as an available component when customizing a system, it has been documented (in this forum) that they are not compatable. Furthermore, Dell is not willing to address/solve the issue. As has been noted, even numerous hardware changes over months of frustration may or may not solve the issue.
The issue is a 'stuttering' of the system, including the mouse, video, and audio components which are directly linked to Nvidia's drivers whether they be the Dell drivers or direct from Nvidia. The drivers themselves seem to cause PCI latency issues when installed on some machines, though not all for whatever reason.
I am currently stuck with a brand new non functional PC from Dell for which I expect to spend signifigant time with tech support, house calls, parts shipment, and so on.
Save yourself time and do not buy this computer.
