I really need help. I can not detect either my cdr or dvd drives. they don't show up in device mgr. when the system shuts down the drive doors open and remain that way until i close them. once booted up, the cdr door partially opens rapidly before staying shut. i want to somehow get my machine to a restore point b4 i had any of these problems but nothing reads from the cd drives so i can't even reload the OS W2K. Please help me out b/c the computer is not that old to be having such problems. is there something i can do to get the computer to recognize these drives.

Also in the setup mode, the drives are "unknown" ... i can't stress the importance of resolving this matter
