DELL C610 does not boot
I disassambled a C610 in order to test, which externals are needed for booting. When reassembling I entered the bios (without HD, TouchPad, Speakers, IR etc.) and set date and time. I did not save the settings, but switched the system off.
After completing reassembling, it does not boot really: When I start with a PW-protected HD it is shutting off when the PW has been typed in. Starting without a HD or a non-protected HD it is immediately shutting off with a short flickering of the display.
Hot-unplugging the PW-protected HD before the PW has been typed in, the DELL-SplashScreen with "BIOS Rev. A03" is coming up, when the PW has been typed in. The keyboard is blocked. It is not possible to enter setup or boot menu. After a timeout it is shutting off.
Can anyone help?

This system does in fact boot, but only with an external display.
I ran the DELL-Diagnostics, but this program does not make a difference between external and internal display. No errors are reported.
I exchanged the display and the video card with known good ones - no difference.
As mentioned in my post, the only message of the internal display is asking for a HD-PW, when a PW-protected HD is installed. After that the system is shutting off.
It is not shutting off, when removing the VGA-cable after start into XP. But toggling with Fn-CRT/LCD is not possible. The internal display remains dark.
I tried the PRIMARY-VGA-setting in the bios-setup, switching between SYSTEM and DOCKING VGA. But this does not help too.
Even clearing CMOS-RAM by removing the backup-battery does not help.
Can anyone help?
