My new 1520 Inspiron has some kind of problem. When I want to close down the computer I go to Start - Turn off computer - AND THEN this message pops up.

 

"Explorer.exe application error. The instruction at '0x000ebd18' referenced memory at '0x000ebd18.' The memory could not be 'written.

 

"Click on OK to terminate the program

Click on Cancel to debut the program."

 

I click cancel. Then the computer turned off.  However, once it crashed.

 

Dell tech (on the phone) looked inside my computer. She thought it had something to do with Trend Micro and did something that worked until we got off the phone.  Same message when I tried to shut down the computer.

 

So I called Dell on Call. He reinstalled Microsoft Explorer 7 (and 6) then put them both back on.  Then he uninstalled Trend Micro and reinstalled it from the disc Dell gave me as a back up. It worked until we got off the phone.  And now when I want to turn off the computer, I get the same message. It will shut down after I click cancel, but something is not right.

 

I will call them back. But I was wondering if any of you ever experienced such a message and what you did about it.
