I am attempting to install DSL - currently use dialup.   During the installation process, at the point that I need to install the static IP address the modem cannot connect to the gateway.  I've spent considerable time with both the DSL vendor (Actiontec/QWest - who sent a new modem) and the ISP.  I can ping the modem - so apparently it is working.  I have replaced the NIC and the modem.  Both QWest and the ISP suggest that it must be something with either the Dell Dimension 4500S or Windows XP.  Can you help?
