CD/DVD Nightmare on new computer
I recently purchased a Vostro 200 os WinXp. I ordered it with dual drives. ---VENT---My main purpose in life is to create music cds for my business and I would LIKE to create some dvd's as well. With previous computer, no probs... it just worked. This new computer has never burned anything correctly and mostly not at all. And then after trying many times to burn music the "My Computer" explorer says "this program is not responding" !! What ?? !! Please help. Ok, info:
TSSTcorp CD RW DVD TS-H493B 48x
Optiarc DVD+/-RW AD-5170S 16x
Sometimes one of them will burn music, other times not and vice-versa. Never been able to burn a DVD. (I suspect that I need other software. All that came with was Roxio Creator & MyDVD 9.0 DE and I uninstalled it when things weren't going well.)
Using blank TDK CD-music, Maxell DVD+R (I tried DVD-R also)
Have burned sometimes or not using iTunes
Have burned sometimes or not using Windows Media Player
<> When burning not happening: goes thru the process and ejects saying burn successful but cd will not play in the computer nor on home stereo: result: new drink coaster.
<>Another message that sometimes occurs: drive not accessible
Frankly, there have been so many different issues that I've become confused and cannot keep up with the problems except that I am completely unable to do what I have bought the computer to do for me.
<> Oh, here is another... sometimes the drive assignment (D: & E: ) will sometimes switch between the two.
I have read many of the posts and some seem helpful but I am not a techie and I feel unsure about what I should do. I'm so frustrated having spent so much time with this. Shouldn't Dell fix it?
I'm sorry for the long post.
Any opinions, suggestions? Please?
