I have a dimension 4500 and recently purchased a Seagate 300 Gb hard drive.  Obviously when I initially installed the drive I only had the 137 Gb hard drive capability (even though my PC shows 127.99 Gb instead of 137) because my copy of XP from 2002 doesn't have the service packs on it.  So after installing windows I updated my software to get the service pack 2.  After installing all of my programs I went back and tried to partition the rest of my hard drive and I got an error message.  I am trying to put the remainder in a seperate partition from the 127.99 I currently can use. 

 

Then I was told to buy a SATA controller card which would allow me to see all 300 Gb.  But that didn't work.  I called the manufacturer and they cannot figure out why I can only read 127.99 Gb of usable hard drive space, and why disc management in XP won't let me partition the rest off even though it shows it is there.  Seagate cannot figure this out either.  So then I decided to flash my Bios to the A04 version to see if this would help.  No dice.  When I try to partition off the rest into a partition I get the same error message. 

 

Any help would be nice as to how to fix this and get the ability to use all 300 Gb of my hard drive.  Thanks in advance.
