Hard Drive Upgrade
OK, this is what I did, on a Dell Inspiron 530 Q6600, 3gig, Vista premiun 32, 500gb T166.
Installed new hard drive Samsung F1 1TB, created 2 partitions, first partition is for OS second for files, installed an OEM Premium 64bit version of vista on the new HDD first partition, installed what ever 64 bit drivers I could find.
However, if I set the first boot device to be the new HDD in the BIOS the OS will not boot, I get a "no drives found" message.
BUT if I leave the first boot drive as the original HDD I then get a screen choice either to boot the original OS or the 62bit version from the new HDD.
Why won't it boot direct from the new HDD? I want to remove the original hard drive and use it as a backup device, plus I think the original drive may be dying.
Thanks
