from time to time my hard disk is making noise, like it is searching for some information. It is happening even when I am not using the computer (probably searching for operating system files).
the noise is not usual , and actually it is very loud. After few second the noise stops. But some time after the noise stops the computer stuck and I get a message 0000000007A with a blue screen (page cannot be found ...).
An attempt to restart a computer is fails on the first attempt since the HD cannot be recognized. On second it working fine.
Is it a HD problem and it should be replaces or this phenomena can indicate on much serious problem that require technician support.
Sounds very much like a hard drive problem. Boot from the Dell Drivers and Utilities CD and run the quick tests. It will give you more info about the condition of all parts. If you decide to replace the hard drive please note that any 2.5" laptop hard drive will work and one good source is www.newegg.com - avoid Dell for these.
I presume you have removed and reseated the hard drive. Make sure you have a backup of anything critical stored somewhere else than the hard drive. Unless you have access to somebody else's hard drive it will difficult to ascertain whether hard drive is for sure the problem or not.
