Here is the Dell Driver:I downloaded the drivers from
http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS033726
unpacked it and told it not to install the drivers ( didn't want to install Lenovo software )
then from Device manager updated the drivers, pointed to where the files were unpacked and Presto..card reader is working :emotion-2:
- Realtek RTS5179 - 6.2.9200.39052 (Windows 8.1 x86 and x64)
- Realtek RTS5179 – 6.2.8400.39034 (Windows 7 x86 and x64)

Thanks for this solution. I tried a simpler method. I went to: http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS033726 unpacked it and then simply installed the USB2.0-CRW driver. It works fine on my Dell Inspiron. I am running with 8.1.Vinitduhoon
