UNSOLVED
problem with starting up the computer
Feedback and helps are much appreciated
I am running Windows XP Home version service pack 2 even since I purchased the computer three years ago. In recent months it starts to have problem when booted. It will go throught the BIO check and the system loading stage (the loading bar indicator runs faster than when the system works), and lock up in a black screen, unable to display the WELCOME screen, even though a system monitoring green light keeps flashing (I notice this light will stay brightly lit during this stage if the system works).
I may cut the power and reboot the computer into safe mode. Restarting from the safe mode sometimes gives me a normal system start-up, but sometime goes back to the lock-up.
I also tried to setup SYSTEM RESTORE POINT, but restoring system from the safe mode only works part of the times.
In the beginning I thought it was a virus, and re-formatted the hard disk and made a fresh installation of the system. But after a short while it comes back.
The messenges I retrived from the administrative tool/event viewer shows (all five from a single starting-up):
The DHCP Client service depends on the NetBios over Tcpip service which failed to start because of the following error:
A device attached to the system is not functioning.
The DNS Client service depends on the TCP/IP Protocol Driver service which failed to start because of the following error:
A device attached to the system is not functioning.
The TCP/IP NetBIOS Helper service depends on the AFD service which failed to start because of the following error:
A device attached to the system is not functioning.
The IPSEC Services service depends on the IPSEC driver service which failed to start because of the following error:
A device attached to the system is not functioning.
The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load:
AFD
eeCtrl
Fips
intelppm
IPSec
MRxSmb
NetBIOS
NetBT
RasAcd
Rdbss
SPBBCDrv
SRTSPX
SYMTDI
Tcpip
I suspect the auto-upgrading of system causes incompatibility.
Could anyone help me to find the problem and solve it.
