I'm having the exact same issue with that "bad command line parameter message" with the same results as you, except my update is for the XPS 8700. When I try to download the BIOS driver update from the Dell Support website, it says "download in progress" but it doesn't download, just sits at 0, saying 0 of 1 downloading.
