Fan noise on XPS 9300 with Ubuntu 18.04
I received my XPS and wondered about the fan noise which is really annoying. It starts even without pushing the machine at all. Even just a youtube video may trigger the fan. Then, it's rather lound and kind of high-frequency annoying. Maybe I'm just a bit sensitive ...
Can something like this be fixed with updates? Or is this just going to be a loud computer?
I curious about the experience with previous models, too ...

You can select between Intel graphics and NVIDIA GPU as desired. Selecting Intel graphics will boost your battery life and avoid (not always) the fans spin.
You can achieve that by typing:
sudo prime-select intel
sudo reboot

I believe the XPS 9300 does not have NVIDIA graphics but Intel Iris Plus.
