The product number for this is W2X98. I have the disc, but it's damaged. Putting the service tag and express service code for the laptop in OS Recovery Tool and the Dell website makes Dell say it's not in their system, so OS Recovery Tool won't work.

I see you're trying to reset your laptop while keeping all factory installed applications and software on there?
Depending on whether your model is Pre Dell or Post Dell it should be on the Dell.com/Support section but if you can attach a screenshot of what the laptop looks like then I can help you find all the drivers and stuff like that so you can reset it and reinstall all those things.

Quick Tip: If your laptop has voltage / charging issues, try shutting it down, unplugging power from laptop, hold power button down for 30 seconds to do a full reset!
Im going on a limb by saying this but I want you to try a Media Creation Tool on a USB stick if possible? If you say that it crashes with support assist then i'd recommend you do a clean install of everything and refresh the BIOS by reseting the computer and doing a flea power drain which is holding the power button with the battery disconnected and then letting go of the power button after 30 seconds to connect the battery back.

I would say that the OP is trying to obtain a recovery disc image download from the Dell site since the OP said his disc to recover the system was damaged and needs a replacement recovery disc
maybe the OP should try to ask the person from this old thread, who has an 17 R1 machine & may still have the recovery disc or discs
