17 R4, no surround sound
Hello,
I believe the output on the Alienware 17 R4 supports stereo only. I ordered a converter for hdmi to export audio and ran two RCA's to my 5.1 surround sound. I see the high definition audio in the control panel but only shows the stereo output. How the heck do you get surround sound on this thing? Anyone ran into this and have a solution besides ordering an external soundcard?

Support for Alienware 17 R4 Audio says Stereo speakers are installed.
Users report Alienware 17 R4 will provide surround sound up to 7.1.

Yeah I tried HDMI to an HDMI extractor but for whatever reason it still wasn't working to show surround sound option in control panel/sound settings. I ordered an external sound card to try out.

Do you have Alienware sound center to control the audio?

I do not I'll give that a shot. I did say forget it and sent the HDMI extractor back and ordered an external USB soundcard to see if that works.
