Headset microphone is not enabled

Question

When I use a headset on my inspiron 5457, the headset microphone is not enabled. I can only use the internal microphone, which is not desirable. This happens if the headset is plugged in wired or if it is connected via bluetooth. This happens both if the headset is plugged in wired and if it is connected via bluetooth. How to solve this problem?

Download Waves MaxxAudio Pro for Dell from Microsoft Store. Click on the playback icon (head facing left). Select output device to Headset, not Headphone.  Boom!
