Monitor Problems with Mandrake & Dell Optiplex + E772p

Question

I have a Dell Optiplex GX270 with an onboard video card. Intel 865 64mB connected to a 17' Dell E772p monitor. After installing Mandrake 9.2 I have the daft situation of having a desktop of 1024x768 but a monitor resolution of 640x480. Which means I can only see about a quarter of my desktop at any one time. I have tried editing the XF86Config-4 file and also tried numerous times changing hardware settings but I have been unable to fix this. I also have the same install on my other PC and this is running fine, so I am assuming it something to do with the videocard / monitor in this PC. BTW I have also tried with the latest Knoppix and it also gave the same problem with the display. Anybody have any idea how to fix this problem Thanks

In your BIOS setup, change you Onboard Video Buffer from 1MB to 8MB.  That should fix your problem.
