Aurora Slooow post

So i have an Alienware Aurora which ive had for just under a year. i have done a few upgrades..like a 80 gig SSD for boot drive, added 12 gigs of Crucial Ballistix tracer ram and a second gts 240 running in SLI. yea i know..gts 240's..pfft..i will be upgrading the vid cards within a week to atleast a GTX 460.

I have only had 1 major issue with this pc,and that was a BSOD while playing COD Black Ops. it turns out that 1 of the memory slots on the MOBO went south, and soo the MOBO was replaced yesterday. since then its been running like a champ!

the thing that always bugged me was the looong wait at the post screen, and by long wait i mean like 1 to 2 minutes wait, and this was how it was from day 1 with all the original hardware. The tech support said its prolly the ram thats causing the long post...I disagree.like i said it was like this from day 1 with all the original hardware including the 6 gigs of cheapo ram they put in it. All memory diagnostic tests pass with flying colors.

is their any setting i can change in the BIOS to reduce the long post?..or am i screwed and have to live with it. I have the A11 BIOS version, and am only booting from the SSD..all other booting options are disabled.

My 2 month old Aurora has the same type of lag on boot. albeit not as bad as yours. From a cold boot my system takes ~170 seconds to start up to the point where I can use the desktop. Most of the time is spent on the BIOS screen and the red alienware screen right before the desktop is shown. I have no extra USB items pluged in or applications running on start up.

I had this issue with my Aurora initially.  I found it to be a problem with a third party (Belkin) USB add on hub.  Once I unplugged that, everything went like lightning.  Mine boots through the BIOS to the Windows splash screen in about 28 seconds.  From there it's about another 18 seconds to desktop (I boot from a sandforce firmware SSD).  Check all of the USB devices that you have plugged into your system.  With any luck, you'll find it to be one of those.  Don't omit a monitor USB hub if you have one.  Good luck.

I've had this issue since I got my machine. Never resolved it and I need all my USB devices (printer, Alienware TactX mouse and keyboard)
