BIOS / Hard drive problem
I have a DELL 4400 Dimension Pentium 2.00Ghz running XP.
BIOS Version A04
I have recently bought an External case for a hard drive and am in the process of swapping my hard drives so that I will have a 40Gb as my C drive with my system on, a 120Gb as my D drive with my music and video files, and an external 120Gb drive to back up all of my files.
Until recently I had both of the 120Gb drives as C & D and my PC worked fine.
The problem that I have is that having cloned the system to the 40GB drive and now the PC will not pick up the second internal drive, whichever I put into it.
I have tried many combinations of the drives and it will pick up whatever if plugged in as an external drive, but now will not recognize the second internal drive.
I checked my BIOS (although I done really understand much about it) and the Primary IDE Slave shows "Not installed"
If I select it, it shows -
Primary IDE Slave
Drive Installed (Not Installed)Type (Auto)
I do not appear to be able to change this setting.
I have found the latest version of the BIOS which is shown as A06.
Will loading this help sort out the problem..?
