checked boxes in msconfig
I have unchecked my boxes in msconfig so the programs will not run when I boot up. Each time I restart, the darn things are checked again! How Can I get them to stay unchecked?
The windows logon screen does the same. Even though I don't enter a password & click cancel, it continues to pop up each time I boot up the pc.
Thanks,
Bev

Go to each program and look for preferences or options. Look for an options box that allows the program to start when windows starts. If you find that preference or option uncheck it.

You need to click 'ok' not 'cancel' for the logon screen. You can enter a password or leave the space blank, then click OK :)

Thanks for the response. I have clicked "ok", many many times. I've also clicked "Cancel" to see if either of them would do it. Neither of them worked.

Many thanks for the input on the scheduled tasks. Please advise, where exactly do I go to find scheduled tasks? I went to "find files" found scheduled tasks but none were the ones that msconfig has in the startup. When you say remove them from scheduled tasks, do you mean to delete them? If so, will deleting them stop the programs from working?

That definitely solved the problem, except for the devldr16.exe, which isn't listed in the disabled startup folder.
Can you help to keep the system configuration utility box that tells me I am using selective startup, from popping up? I do click on Cancel, other times I try the X on the right side at the top, but it still pops up. Not a mjor proble, just a bother!
Thanks again for your help
Bev
