I am planning to upgrade my Dimension XPS D333. I have 64mb of RAM and 2.5 gb of free drive space. I still have Win95B. My question concerns the order of the upgrades. I will be doing the following:
1. upgrade to Win98se (about $70 on Ebay) or Win ME (I've heard bad things about ME)

2. upgrade RAM -- I already bought 2 128 mb strips (it was only $7.99 each after the rebate)

3. flash the BIOS - I still have the original A07. The RAM I bought is P133 so I know I have to update the BIOS to A09.

4. install a new CD-RW drive ($60 after rebate)

5. possibly upgrade the CPU

There must be pros and cons as to the order I perform these changes. I need to get another 18 months out of this computer. I figure I can make all these upgrades for under $150 (more with a new CPU) so I would like to try it.

Any advice anyone has would be greatly appreciated!!
