memory (dimension2100)

Question

I am using a dimension 2100, It has 256 ram and recently i put another 256 ram in it bringing it up to 512, but when i booted up the computer it would not open up. I then took out the new memory and it then opened up, what have i done wrong.

Make sure the new 256M module has 16 chips on it - eight per side, double sided. If it's a high density 8- or 4-chip DIMM, it won't work.

One guide is price - a 256M low-density module will run $100-120 each - if it was much less expensive than that, it is almost certainly high density.
