ram and pc game
here are my specs...
dimension 2350
256 mb RAM (at the moment)
INtel celeron 2.4 GHZ
Geforce 5200 fx, 128 mb
ok heres my question i run a game with these required specs...
pentium 4 1.5 ghz or amd xp 1500+
512 mb ram
(and i have a good enough card to run it)
so im getting HUGE LAG in the game... it is a very big game though... but i dont think my problem is with my CPU speed because everyone tells me the game will run perfectly on my intel celeron 2.4 ghz.... so the only thing is the RAM. I bought more ram and im waiting for it to come in the mail... but is this my problem? will having a lot more ram really fix the lag in the game? Everyone else said so but i dont know. Also please let me know if my CPU speed is afecting the problem also. ( i doubt it but can my problem really be only RAM shortage??) Oh ya its not my grpahics card i checked with other people. (including the game makers) please help

The better games want 1 gb of ram. The better games want a very video card and the one you have is just a little bit better than the integrated video that your system came with. You do not have a gaming system as stated by many on this forum including the Moderators. Your only hope is to play some of the better games with the graphic's down a few notchs. The 5700Ie card would be a little bit better for you.
Also, you can do the following to help in games play :
1. Defrag the Hard Drive
2. Use your Disk Clean up
3. Turn off the anti-virus software during game play if you are not on the internet, and turn it back on afterwards
4. Clean out your Prefech folder
5. Disable some or all of the back ground applications that are running
6. Turn off the windows xp eye candy during game play.
7. Download and install a good spyware program listed below. Spyware will slow your system down
8. As the other poster stated, get at least 512 mb of ram. You might have to toss away a stick of ram from your system depending if you have both ram slots taken up with 128 mb each.
9. Below links will help you in getting your system up and running just a little bit better. However, you will never experience the better games at their max graphic's. Save your money, do your home work first, before purchasing another system. Don't buy cheap, because you will get cheap.
