I have been having some slowness problems and getting internet explorer error messages lately so I decided to defragment to see if that would help anything.  Unfortunately, I have been unable to defragment.  It won't get past checking drives for errors (at2%).  Therefore, I decided to do a system restore and got  the message "system restore operation failed."

Before calling Dell, I decided to see if anyone here could offer some suggestions or solutions.

Any help is appreciated.
