if your having problems with your computer restarting automatically, go to my computer, control panel, system, advanced, click settings under startup and recovery, then deselect write an even to the system log,  send an administrative alert, and automatically restart.  then under write debugging infomation use the drop down menu and select none.  then press ok.  then still under advanced tab in system, click error reporting, and select disable error reporting and deslect but notify me when critical errors occur.

rollnt,

You can empty temporary internet files (the cache in XP) by going into Internet Explorer to Tools|Internet Options|General tab and clicking the "Delete files" button.

Windows XP Help and Support provides a better online user's reference than earlier versions of Windows, but for real documentation you will have to spend about $30 to get a hard copy book.  Windows XP Inside Out by Bott and Seichert and Windows XP Professional by Minasi are two good ones.  They and others are available from Amazon.com.
