e1705 video problem while in 32-bit mode

Hi,
I am experiencing discolored pixel through out my screen.. while I'm in 32-bit true color mode, and  while im playing games or watching videos, also while the system is rebooting and the window logo appears there are 3 lines of multiple dead/discolored pixel appears, but they do not appear any where else besides doing these activities, and while in 32-bit true color mode.  It is very strange because if i minimize the window( the Movie / game) the discolored pixel is limited to only the window that is running.  I have switched to 16-bit color mode and the problem has disappeared, but I'm looking for a fix for this, any suggestions.?

My system info:
e1705 duo core 2.0ghz
2gig memory( bought seperately, both dimms)
256 7800go videocard

Thanks

I'm having a very similar problem on my e1705 (with Geforce GO 7800) while running in 32-bit mode. The discolored artifacts disappear from my desktop when I switch to 16-bit but are showing up in the games I play. Since this problem just started happening I did a system restore so my laptop would be in the same state it was when I purchased it- but the problem is still occuring. I've tried several different drivers for the 7800, re-installing directx 9.0c, and even tried running thru a different monitor but the artifacts are still there. This leads me to believe there is something wrong with my 7800 itself, though I have no way of troubleshooting it.

Where is the line/discoloration located?

If I recall correctly, the NVidia drivers have a special option that lets you get what is essentially a "performance meter" that consists of a row of pixels at the top of a screen/window.

I don't remember the exact details, but it might just be you have a weird option turned on somewhere.
