Inspiron LCD need to replace , question

Have an Inspiron 1000,  the LCD is bad 1/2 way up from bottom,
Bad screen? or board?

Also does any other model LCD fit it?

Thanks

Could be either; repair will be cheaper than a new panel ($150 vs. $300+) and less risky than a used panel (you won't know how many hours are on the backlight). Safest bet for a replacement panel is exactly the one you have. Next best is one from another 1000. Otherwise, all bets are off.

Don't know hours on the backlight,   The whole screen lights up from the back, I assumed the backlight is good.

There is a small circuit board under the LCD,  I think that is for the back light,

Thanks
George

George,

Have you tested with an external monitor to ensure that the problem is with the LCD?
