1907FP "White dimming" issue

Hi.

I've read through some threads regarding the "backlight bleeding" problems on some monitors and also looked at some screenshots. Although this might be the same problem I'm not sure it is.

On a black background I see like white dimming areas. Mostly in the center area of the monitor. It almost looks like when light comes from the window through some curtains, as I first thought it was. Also there is the same kind of thing around the borders of the monitor. Mostly at the top. I noticed it mostly while playing HL2 in the more darker areas of the game. Looks almost like the monitor is old and speckled. But it's completely new. I got the new computer package on friday. Since I don't have a digicam I can't take a good picture showing it. But I used Paint to sketch up how it looks.

Of course it's not THAT white and visable but it gives the idea how it's shaped.

I didn't notice it until today. But now it bugs me because as soon as it's darker background, IE playing a game, you clearly see it. Any ideas or know why it's there and the like is appreciated.
Thinking of calling dell tomorrow and see what they say. Just so annoying you buy something new and it's defected like this! :/

TIA

Just arrange for a 'new' exchange since it is within the 21 days satisfaction period - or a refund. Don't pay shipping either as it is a defect. Backlight problems show around some edges & not in the middle of the screen such as yours do.
cheers

I now got a mail back from them. They say that monitor goes under the specifications of an office enviroment. It's to be used in office lighting and with bright backgrounds. And since the defect doesn't show when there is a white background they wont change the monitor.

That sounds very odd to me.
