Monitor Help

Question

I have and Inspiron 8100. Over the past weekend my viewable screen has shrunk down about 2 inches. All around my screen there is about 2 inches of black screen. My mouse does not scroll over it. It is like it is the end of my computer. My resolution is set at 1024x768 and is best viewed in that. The only way to make it the whole screen is to increase it to an hard to view resolution. All that I did over the weekend was turn on my computer, try to get on my mom's internet, which is not on my computer, but I didn't download anything to go with the program, and turn my computer off, nothing else. Came home to my house and it was the small screen. Does anyone have any suggestions about what I can do to fix this problem?

you can use the display controls of the monitor to zoom the picture or increase the vertical & horizontal size

I have the SAME EXACT PROBLEM! Obviously, the reply above isn't taking into consideration that we are talking about a laptop. Did you ever resolve the problem? Think it has anything to do with the new year date of 2004? Please, somebody out there HELP US!!!!!!!
