connecting computers

Question

I have a home network setup. i can share a printer with no problems. i would like to know if i can view and use the desktop of each of the computers on my network. any help would be welcome thank you.         inspiorn 1505--- xp-mc dimension---ep-home

Depending on what you are trying to accomplish, remote desktop might work to accomplish what you are wanting. Otherwise you can setup the file sharing and map a drive to the desired machine.

You can try remote administrator 2.2, 'free trial' or something like symantecs pcanywhere Both seem to work ok when i tried them, though I'd probably get remote administrator over pcanywhere... or you could try RealVNC whichs is also free My Web Site

if you are running a firewall, like zonealarm/ norton/ outpost etc you will have to set the program to be trusted via network.. also 1 pc should be set to client, the other is the host pc... if you get remote admin 2.2 all you need to do is install it on both pcs, restart then it will load in the toolbar on your pc open remote admin, click connect enter your other pcs ip address in eg 10.1.1.# d-links or 192.#.#.# other routers and it should connect... both software programs are pretty simple to use and require hardly any config except in your firewalls... thank you for the responses. i have downloaded realvnc and i am still trying to get the computers connected to each other. i am not a computer wizard but i will keep digging to try to get it figured out. i really figured accessing another computer on the same router would be eaiser than this proves to be....thank you  again

If you use windows remote desktop, you dont have to install anything, its already there.

you need to have xp pro to use remote desktop with the client pc running either xp home or pro My Web Site

i would like to thank all that responded. i have been able to accomplish access to the other desktop. i found out that it can be done through windows live messanger. under actions and ask for remote assistance. thank you again all the help was very apprecaited.
