HELP!!! PS. Better explained

I apologize to all. I am new at this and a little frustrated. The new dell does not want to access the web through the network hub.I am somewhat versed in W98,2000 but XP I'm not.I asumed the problem, because the service help was telling after many different fixes to switch my DSL to the XP,which I will not do.I can not access most web sites with the Xp.I have connected my trusty old w/w98 to try to find the help.
Thanks

You are not helping matters by posting a new message everytime you want to reply. From now on you need to reply to the replies and keep all of your messages in the same thread, rather than having them scattered all over the forum.  Where is the XP computer getting its IP address from?  If you are connecting to a hub and your ISP has not assigned you different static IP addresses for each computer, then it will not work.  You need a router, with the router assigning local IP addresses.  Please try to give us a better idea of how you network is set up.
