Impossible to chat

Question

I typically chat on MSN chat prior to purchasing my Inspiron 2200. I downloaded MACROMEDIA, SHOCKWAVE and MSN chat control prior to attempting to once again chat. However, when I tried to chat utilizing my wireless connection and 802.11b router, chat froze for an indefinite amount of time. I tried to use a LAN connection and there were no problems at all.   Is this a settings issue or is there a possible patch I can download besides those mentioned above to keep chat running smoothly in a wireless environment? Will a 802.11g router be of any benefit? Thanks!

It appears that the router is not allowing access to the chat program and you might have to open some ports for it. It might be happening becuase of the Firewall on the router. Contact the router manufacturer for knowing where to open the ports. That should take care of it.
