Inspiron 1501 wireless problem

Hello everyone. I´m from Mexico and last December I ordered a Inspiron 1501. This have a 1390 mini card for wireless. For infraestructures networks I don´t have any problem, however, at my place last week installed an ad hoc network. Here is when my nightmare begins :robotsad:. I let the card tool to recognize the wireless connections and the ad hoc network is finded. I have a security code and configure the connection. It seems to be connected, but don´t send any package, so I can´t connect to web.

I have win xp home at spanish, my firewall is disabled and WEP security.

Can you help me with this issue? please!!.

Hi,

Ad-hoc network by definition would be used when you are setting up a Computer to Computer network - in which case you would not be able to go online unless you are trying to share the internet connection on the other system using ICS ( Internet Connection Sharing ).

If your trying to setup your Home Wireless Network, this link should help you out.

Dinesh

Hi,

What is the IP address we receive on the Notebook computer....is it something like 192.168.0.x with a default gateway of 192.168.0.1 ? Have all the network card driver properties been set to obtain IP address automatically ( DHCP enabled )? Did you check if the Firewall ( Windows Firewall or any other Firewall ) has been disabled or access granted for this computer?

Ferp - Could you please provide more details with regard to your setup like the type of connection your trying to share etc, Connection for which ICS has been enabled, IP address which you obtain after you shared the connection on both the computers.

Regards,
Dinesh
